Changing the core (the software that powers the server) is one of the first steps in server optimization. Minecraft servers offer many cores, such as Paper (best for plugins) or Forge (for modpacks).

Installation via Installer (Easiest)

In the Hexado game panel, we offer a feature for instant version changes.

  1. Log into the game panel and open your server.
  2. In the left menu, select the 'Version Manager' or 'Installer' option.
  3. Select the core type (We recommend Paper).
  4. Choose the desired version from the dropdown menu (e.g., 1.20.4).
  5. Click Install. The process will remove the old core and download the new one. (Your worlds will remain, but we recommend making a BACKUP!).
  6. Turn on the server.

Caution: A downgrade (changing to an older version, e.g., from 1.20 to 1.16) often breaks the world. Minecraft maps cannot be rolled back to older versions! Always create a backup in the Backups tab before any change.

Manual change (Advanced)

If you have a non-standard core, you can upload it yourself.

  • Download the server's .jar file from the developer (e.g., Purpur.jar).
  • Rename it exactly to server.jar.
  • Upload it to the main folder via FTP (delete the old one).
  • Restart the server.
